ITANAGAR, The All Arunachal Unemployed Civil Engineers’ Association (AAUCEA) has served one month ultimatum to the state government for scrapping/cancellation of all officiating and functional appointments and out of turn promotions in various engineering departments of state.
In a press conference here at Arunachal Press Club (APC) The AAUCEA President Lokam Kiochak said that the opportunity of the unemployed engineers, dedicated and hardworking engineers has been snatched away by few those who are having attachment and good relationship wither with the senior or the political leaders or who so ever may be for their out of turn promotion for officiating and functional post of AE, EE, SE & CE which is gross injustice and this should be discarded by everyone and everyone should understand the issue. He said.
Calling for ‘one man at one post’, president Kiochak said that in 2017 there were 60 posts advertised but this time there are only 18 that too only 15 for APSTs.”It is because in every department engineers have been appointed in officiating posts,” the government should try to created vacancy to fill up the gap and reduced the unemployment problem but time and again the trend is going up and as per information we have received RTI documents form few department only like RWD, WRD, PHED and rest may be receiving soon and it is more than 150 engineers has been occupying post and enjoying the perk. So it would be better if the government either absolved them of the post or reverted them to give way to other waiting unemployed engineers who have been waiting for the last four to five years. The president said.
“If dropped then it is going to ensure that many of the unemployed youths get a chance of being employed in the AE posts. And if promoted then JE posts will be created for which many youths are waiting,” the association’s spokesperson Ajit Singhi said. Such practice of dual roles creates loopholes in the administrative system, as on one hand unemployment is increasing and on the other hard working engineers are being deprived as they are not getting promoted.
Informing that the same demand was placed by Arunachal Pradesh Engineers Association (APESA) to the chief engineer last year, he suggested that posts should also be created in new districts according to the need for 50:50 ratios. “50 percent should be given to the department for regular promotion and 50 percent should be kept for fresh recruitment,” he added.
The spokesperson informed that the same demand was submitted to the Governor and has a discussion on the issue, later the memorandum was submitted to the chief secretary on January 7 last and later to Chief Ministers office but there has been no response from the government side, finding no option but to come to media and through media we want to inform that we will wait for next one months and hope that the state government may take necessary action to cancel all officiating and functional appointments in the engineering department or else we may have to go for democratic movement.
