IMC Mayor Tame Phassang appealed to the youth to carry forward the legacy of our tradition and culture

NIRJULI, APRIL 21 : The Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC) Mayor Tame Phassang on Thursday while attending the first Post Longte festival celebration here at Nirjuli Village- I to carry forward the legacy of the our tradition and rich cultural heritage of state in world over.

Phassang said time has come our tribals community has a tradition and rich cultural heritage while we celebrated several festival which have a great meaning, most of our festival are based on the agriculture and we should celebrate festival with an enthusiasm and traditional fervor which signify our unity and integrity which unite us all and we need to preserve it. Said Phasang.

There is a vast difference between tradition and culture which we need to understand and need to maintain. He said.

Our state is also in the developing stage but we are very much on the way but at the same time we should maintain both the traditional values and rich cultural heritage. We live and die one day but our heritage and culture need to be preserved and protected for our identity. Phasang said.

He urged the parents to guide their ward in the right direction for good citizens to lead the society in the right direction and appealed to the youths to stay away from the clutch of drugs for a better society and development of state.

Former MLA Pani Taram in his address said that Longte is celebrated across the state specially in Kurung Kumey district and capital complex, it was a decision to celebrate in all the circles of Kurung Kumey district with a great enthused and in capital complex,. A central celebration was held but due to bad weather and road communication problems it was decided that a post Longte festival has been organized with several programmes here which has been participated in large numbers. He said.

Apart from celebration some sporting activities are there and a cultural extravaganza is there at night with a DJ which will rock by Amit Paul. He said.

Hope the festival gives lots of enthusiasm, peace, prosperity and happiness among the people living across the state and country with progress and development of state and nation. Taram added.

IMC Corporator Tarh Nachung, Arun Kipa Loram also interacted with the gathering.

Several senior officers, public leaders of Kurung Kumey and the capital complex, cultural troops and others were present on the occasion.
