BOMDILA, JAN 13 ; The attention of education department an state government is sought for providing of pucca road and teaching and non teaching faculty and other infrastructure at Government college Bomdila.

The team of media who visited at the college campus located at a beautiful location Wangho village near the Bomdila the district headquarter of West Kameng district and new campus which was inaugurated by the Chief Minister Pema Khandu in presence of Union Minister Law & Justice Kiren Rijiju and education and cultural affairs Minister Taba Tedir on 16th September,2021 still lack of some important and basic facility and support from education department and state government.

The Government college one of the old college of state established in 1987 has served the region and the nation for more than three decades. Due to lack of proper facility and it was earlier functioning in a small campus in the middle of the town was facing lots of problems but the state government has later constructed almost all the required infrastructure and shifted to the new location and functioning smoothly as per information from the college authority and general public of the Bomdila.

The team of media has visited all most all the campus and found that the area is beautiful and having connectivity form three side but the approach road and antenatal road of the college and campus is in bad shape and need immediate attention of concern department and state government so that the internal road and approach road is either converted into pucca road or into CC pavement so that the students, faculty and public attending the college does not face untold suffering in summer and even in winter. The college authority said.

The college Principal Dr. Tashi Phuntso inform that earlier the college was functional in the middle of the town in a single set of buildings. It was shifted to the new campus near Wangho village in 2020, under the priority focus on Education department and state government. The New campus along with its infrastructure was inaugurated by Chief Minister in presence of Union minister and education minister of state and several lawmakers of district and others on 16th September,2021. He said.

The infrastructure development at the new campus is being done as per the college master plan. We have new administrative block, Library, New Academic block, Boys and Girls hostel, staff quarters, Auditorium, Ground with rostrum, Open Air Gym and Indoor Gym, College Canteen and parking place. The college has 24X 7 water supply through its water treatment plant and electric supply from the department of power. For the Students we have four number of buses of which two are donated by our Alumni MLA Thrizino-Buragoan Kumsi Sidisow, and Tsering Dolma, wife of CM Pema Khandu and it has boosted up the morale of the staff and faculty. He said.

There were only one bus but after one bus received from government and two from contribution of Alumni there was shortage of driver , In absence of regular drivers, the buses are managed by taking nominal fee from students of rupees 300 per month. The college is connected by the Bypass Highway and link road via Sera Village. The internal campus link road was constructed 15 years back and hence require widening, black topping with drainage system. He said.

Dirang MLA Phurpa Tsering who is the Chairman of District Development committee has sanctioned one faculty study block for the research and academic engagement of the faculty members. Therefore, the college has reasonably hard infrastructure. He said.

There are 760 students in the college with two programmes B.A and B.CoM. There are 22 faculty members across different subjects. However, after the implementation of the CBCS in the Semester System the actual number of teaching staff is lower than the required ratio. The office has 1 UDC, 1 regular peon, 4 Cooks, 1 Chowkidar and 6 contingency staff. The college administration has written for urgent posting of accountant and additional ministerial staff. Due to shortage of staff the works are somehow managed by the existing members by taking additional responsibility which is a matter of concern and if the state government provide sufficient or required staffs the management of college activities would function smoothly. Dr. Phuntso said.

With the help of Alumni, elected leaders of district, guradians the College Management Committee is ensuring optimum use of the resources and catering best possible Learning and Teaching outcomes in the college with the active support of the faculty members. The college is planning for Online admission in the coming session.  He said.

For cleanliness the college members are taking regular social service at the campus. It has MOU with Local NGO Green Saviour for plantation in the waste land of the college. It got the Green Champion award of West Kameng District for elevated Swachata Action Plan for 2021 by Ministry of Education. It has MOU with Bhaskaracharya College of applied sciences. for sharing online resources and Knowledge. It has MOU with Arunachal Pradesh Literary Society for the promotion of creative writing amongst the students. Through Networking of the gurdians the college is being provided with 2 Units of toilet Bathrooms by the Arunachal Scouts, Indian Army. He informed.

Following the Atma Nirbar philosophy the college is trying to implement self-management mechanism to meet up any shortages of men power. Although the facilities provided by the government is commendable, the actual requirements increase every year due to increase in the number of the students. Principal Dr. Phuntso added.
