KOLORIANG ; JULY 24 : The search and rescue operation of SDRF and locals was able to rescue two more workers/labourers of the BRO road construction agency of BRO. with the two people rescued today the total goes to ten. Informed the Kurung Kumey Deputy Commissioner Nighee Bengia.
DC Koloraing Nighee bengia said that “ the status of missing private labourers of BRO road at Hurl, as of now 10 labourers have been rescued. Today at around 1.30 PM Two more labourers were rescued from the jungle in between Huri to Tapa in a critical condition by the SDRF and local rescue team. The two persons are Kholebuddin Shick aged 27 years and Shamidul Sheik aged-19 years”. DC said.
“The two have been brought to SBI camp Huri first for first aid and then to PHC Damin for medication. The health conditions of the two rescued are very serious and are likely to be evacuated to Naharlagun or Koloriang District Hospital”. DC said.
The rescue team including the local team returned this evening due to the threat of poisonous snakes. However, the rescue operation will continue the search operation on Monday again to rescue the remaining missing labourers. He said.
As per the statement by the two rescued labourers that they left, four persons behind them who were very critical and could not walk in the forest. As such IAF has been informed about it, The IAF Chopper operation could not be materialised on Sunday due to bad weather. The IAF Chopper search and rescue Operation will resume on Monday morning if weather remains clear. Dc said.
Earlier on Saturday afternoon and evening the three rescued labourers have been shifted from Hurl to Koloriang District Hospital for further treatment and if the two rescued today may also be airlifted to TRIHMS on Monday. The DC said.
The district administration is supervising the health and treatment of all the rescued persons who are admitted at Damin or at Koloriang. The SP Abhmanyu Poswal and DMO have accompanied the District hospital and interacted with the three people who are under treatment since last night. Added DC.
It is to mention that 19 workers/labourers missing from July 5 late night and the missing report was reported to Koloriang Police station on July 13 when the locals failed to locate them after they fled the worksite of a road construction company BB Enterprise of BRO from Huri in Damin Circle of Kurung Kumey district. The workers went missing reportedly when their ration and other issues came up and the sub-contractor Abdul Kudgus and Roham Ali who brought them to the site from Assam and left the worksite on pretext to attend the funeral of their grandmother a few weeks ago.
The eight rescued workers namely Abul Ami, Majidul Ali, Monowar Hussain, Joinair Ali, Inamul Hussain, Khairul Islam, Hamidul Hussain and Ibrahim Ali. Out of eight five of them have been airlifted to the state capital by the air force helicopter and immediately admitted to TRIHMS, Naharalagun on Saturday evening and they are under medical treatment.
