AEKDSU carried protest march against Seppa-Chyangtajo road construction issue

ITANAGAR, Dec 22 : The All East Kameng District Students’ Union (AEKDSU) has threaten to initiate 36 hours East Kameng district bandh call, if the demand for suspension of all the officer involved in the multi-crore misappropriation of Seppa – Chayangtajo road project is not meet within 23 January next.

Several students’ organizations and others well-wishers and supporters has carried out a protest march in city from Akashdeep to Tennis court IG Park here on Thursday, the students union alleged that there was a mismanagement of fund which meant for the construction of 81 kms Seppa to Chayangtajo North East Council (NEC) road project which is much delayed and several years has passed.

Stating chargesheet should be file against all the officials found to be involved in the misappropriation of Rs. 172 crores multi scam, president AEKDSU Chakng Yangda said, “Special Investigation Cell (SIC) has been endorsed to investigate for malpractice on the same project but there is no progress or outcome till date,”.

Union has been appealing state government to expedite the construction of Seppa-Chayangtajo road project at the earliest but other than assurance nothing has been initiated so far, which has compelled the union to resort democratic movement, he added.

Union’s demand included immediate floating of tender against Rs. 19.92 crores which was released under Special Assistance from State Capital Expenditure for construction and improvement of Seppa – Chayangtajo road, immediate termination of erring contractor and initiation of departmental enquiry.

Meanwhile, the SIC SP in an interaction with media has informed that the  SIC is investigating the case and a charge sheet has already filed in court of law and additional charge sheet would be filed and further investigation is underway.
