BJP Mahila Morcha Celebrates Millets Month, Promotes Awareness on Nutritional Benefits and Cultivation

ITANAGAR, July 12 – Arunachal Pradesh State BJP Mahila Morcha commemorated International Millets year by organizing a month-long awareness program on the uses of millets, organic farming, and millet cultivation. The event, held at the state BJP Headquarters in Itanagar on July 12, 2023, aimed to emphasize the significance of millets in the daily diet and promote their cultivation in the state.

As part of the program, the State Mahila Morcha team prepared a variety of millet-based items, including cakes, bhujia, momos, pokara, kher, and haluwa, which were showcased during the event. These dishes were served to dignitaries and members of the organization to raise awareness about the nutritional value and importance of millets.

Hegio Aruni, President of the State BJP Mahila Morcha, highlighted that millets were once a staple food for the high-altitude population of Arunachal Pradesh. She emphasized that millets are rich in proteins, calcium, and other essential minerals, which contribute to improved immunity against life-threatening diseases. Additionally, millets are known to be high in potassium, supporting healthy kidney and heart function, and an excellent source of Vitamin A.

“Millet is an essential staple food item that contains abundant nutritional value. Including millets in our daily diet, at least once a day, can significantly benefit our health,” stated Hegio Aruni. She urged the community to embrace millets and encouraged their cultivation in the state.

The event saw the participation of several notable figures, including Tarh Tarak, State Vice-President; Nalong Mize, State BJP General Secretary; Techi Necha, BJP spokesperson; Ashok Sangchuju and Joram Tat, State Secretaries; and Nima Sange, Media Co-convener, along with numerous BJP karyakartas.

By celebrating Millets Month, the Arunachal Pradesh State BJP Mahila Morcha took a commendable step in promoting awareness about the nutritional benefits of millets and encouraging their cultivation as a valuable food source for the people of the state.
