He further shared that this year the theme of the celebration is Zero drug Ziro and urged members of the Apatani community to come out in large numbers to participate in the festival. The alarming signal of drugs is very dangerous and it is necessary to fight the deadly drug from our society. The badminton and table tennis is being organized in the newly constructed multipurpose hall of Dree ground. Chief Engineer S Sumnyan praised the Dree celebration committee for constructing such good infrastructure.

“Arunachal has huge potential in the field of sports. More sports infrastructures should be constructed to tap the potential. The government alone cannot construct infrastructures. The civil society also will have to contribute,” he added. He also urged parents to encourage children to play sports so as to maintain physical fitness for a healthy body and a sound mind.

“Sports bring discipline and the children learn to work in a team,” he added. The CE lauded the Dree celebration committee for coming up with a beautiful theme of Zero drugs Ziro. “This is a very good message. Today many youngsters are taking the wrong path. Only keeping them engaged in sports and physical activities will keep them away from it,” said CE.

On this occasion, a badminton exhibition match was played between committee members and dignitaries. Later the official tournament also started. Large numbers of sports enthusiasts including both males and females are participating.
