Felix urges Panchayat leaders to ensure welfare schemes’ benefits reach rural masses

LUNGSA, Jan 27: The 74th Republic Day was celebrated in a befitting manner by the residents of Phassang Circle under 19-Nyapin Assembly Constituency at Lungsa, wherein the national tri-colour was unfurled by Phassang Circle Officer Afa Phassang as the Chief Guest in presence of Home Minister and local MLA Bamang Felix.

Home Minister Felix in his speech emphasized on Panchayat leaders taking the lead in ensuring rural masses are benefited by various welfare schemes.

He also urged them to take full advantage of the powers devolved to them by the State government in a positive way and to use funds allocated to them under the State Own Revenue (SOR) to create valuable assets for the rural community.

Minister Felix also advised the villagers to focus on creating sustainable assets for themselves based on horti-agri, fisheries, piggery, etc. so that they become self-reliant.

Furthermore, he appealed to the villagers to undertake efforts to conserve forest and wildlife in their respective areas while stating that such efforts will not only be a boon to the global environment but can also act as a catalyst for establishing nature tourism in the area.

Circle Officer Phassang in his address called on the villagers to avail benefits provided under various Central and State flagship programmes while asserting that the administration will provide full cooperation to the eligible beneficiaries whenever required. 

Also extending gratitude to the State government for undertaking developmental projects in Phassang Circle such as construction of circuit house, helipad, indoor badminton stadium, PMGSY roads, 2-lane road from Nyobia Circle via Sangram, Nyapin and Phassang Circles to Chayang Tajo in East Kameng district, PHED &WS Section Office and quarters, multipurpose tribal welfare building (NyokumNamlo), etc., the CO appealed to all to consider it as assets and to maintain it accordingly.

Also stating that authorities concerned are always open to positive criticism, CO Phassang urged the youths to make positive use of social media.
