ITANAGAR, Jun 22: The Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC) finally replaced the tagline on a hoarding in the city which read ‘Hindi Capital of Northeast’ with “Land of Dawnlit Mountain”.
ITANAGAR, Jun 22: The Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC) finally replaced the tagline on a hoarding in the city which read ‘Hindi Capital of Northeast’ with “Land of Dawnlit Mountain”.
The hoarding has been put up by the IMC at the underpass located in Itanagar’s Bank Tinali.
The tagline inscribed on the signboard ‘Hindi Capital of Northeast’ was criticized by several quarters while a few others supported the move.
Earlier, IMC Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC) Mayor Tame Phassang justified the move.
The issue also went viral in social media.
IMC Mayor Phassang on Wednesday said, “The country is celebrating Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav and everyone is involved in it. IMC has also celebrated the same and it was a part of the celebration. But it received criticisms from several corners and keeping in view of this, the tagline has been replaced with ‘Land of Dawnlit Mountain’ for which we are recognized (a land of rising sun), in the signboards on both the sides of the underpass.”
“We welcome positive criticisms which are beneficial for the capital region and the State as a whole,” Phassang.
Phassang said, “The IMC is always with the people of Capital Complex and will look forward to cooperation and support for implementations of all the schemes and projects for making Itanagar a clean and green capital.”
“We are public leaders and attached with the general public. The tagline has been replaced as per the demand. The earlier tagline was also not against the masses and something new has been tried as part of the celebration of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav,” IMC Mayor Phassang said.
“IMC has created a mobile app IMC-101 and anyone, who wants to advise, complain and suggest, may do it through the portal launched by the corporation recently. Everyone is requested to take advantage and help the IMC to work smoothly in the greater interest of the masses,” he said.
