Most part of Itanagar capital city may not get PHED water supply, restoration may take one month, consumers requested to bear with inconvenient

ITANAGAR, JULY 7 :  The main water supply pipeline 450 mm dia which supply water to most of the part of Itanagar capital city coming from Poma area has been damaged due to massive landslide due to heavy downpour near Poma village in Sangdupota circle and the denizens will be badly affected and the restoration may take a month. Said PHED Officer.

The team of officers and officials led by PHED Superintending engineer Tayum Tok Camdir, Executive Engineer Tadar Mangku carried out inspection to assess the damaged caused due to landslide and flood and find that the landslide has taken place at multiple location in a stretch of 9-10 KM upto the river intake point area. 

PHED SP inform the media that the major fault has been detected 1.5-2 KM Point at a distance form Poma village and the main pipeline has been washed away and few pipelines has been completely submerged in the debris which could not be retrieved due to massive landslide. The alignment of the pipeline has also been washed away and a new formation and alignment need to be created. Said Camdir. 

It has been observed that a major landslide has taken place triggered by heavy downpour and flash flood and due to which a portion of more than 600-1 Km stretch has to be realigned. All the works may take around one month and it is a challenging task if the heavy downer continues, the portion of road measuring around 400 meter leading to water intake point has also washed away which need to be reconstructed. I have personally inspected the place and will take and till such time the consumers has to bear the inconvenient due to non supply of water in pipelines. However three tankers available will be press into services who will fill their tanks form newly refilling station located at Senki view. Even private tankers and people needed may use the service of the refilling station at Senki View. He added.

Itanagar PHED Division Executive Engineer Tadar Mangku inform that though clearing of debris has began which may take time and at the same time realignment may also take time. However maximum numbers of man and machine and 2 nos of JCB and a folk land, four tippers is being deployed so that the work is cleared. However if heavy rain continue the work may be affected. Said PHED EE Mangku.

Till the restoration work is not completed the city dwellers may not received the water supply through PHED pipelines. However the Senkiview water treatment plant is functioning. Most part of Itanagar city may not received water supply. Which include Gopur TInali, Vivek Vihar, Economic & statistic colony, G Sector, Donyi colony, Police colony, SRPL Colony, DNGC area, Chandanagar, Chimpu, H Sector, RK Mission area, Akashdeep. He said.

Till such time the PHED will pressed water tanker and the city dweller may inform the PHED enquiry in case need water form tanker. Tankers has been arranged for the purpose. He appeal the denizens to bear with the inconvenient caused due to  damaged of water supply. EE Mangku added.

He also appeal the denizens to tap rain water for all purpose and even use for drinking after boiling which also may be utilized for many purpose at home and everywhere.
