ITANAGAR, DEC 14 : The Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament from Arunachal Pradesh Nabam Rebia has requested and appeal the civil aviation ministry and central government for provision of night landing facility for Donyi Polo airport at Hollongi and also commencement of direct flight to Bangaluru in Karnataka in Southern part of country.
The Donyi Polo airport located at Hollongi in Papum Pare district is catering to the needs of locals as well as nearby adjoining district of Assam which include North Lakhimur, Biswanath even to Sontipur since its inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi November 19 2022. The Donyi polo Greenfield airport is the new and biggest airport of Arunachal Pradesh and the has connected Kokatta, Guwahati and New Delhi is matter for hours only instead of several hors was wasted to reach either to LPGBI Airport at Guwahati or at Mohanbari/ Dibrugarh in Assam to board flight for long distance city of country.
Since beginning of the flight service there was repeated demand for direct flight to New Delhi and later to Bangluru and other airport of the state and region. Though the Indigo began it direct flight to Kolkatta from November 29 2022. Later direct flight to national capital New Delhi also began from October 2nd 2022. However the flight toward south is still a demand for the people of state specially to Bangaluru where thousands of students go for study.
The Rajya Sabha MP Nabam Rebia has been pursuing the matter which reflect from his letter written to the Union minister for civil aviation and steel Jyotiaditya M Scindia September 20th 2023 regarding introduction of direct flight from Itanagar (Donyi Polo airport) Hollongi to Bangaluru Via Guwahati and provision of night landing facility at Itanagar airport.
The union Minister civil aviation has acknowledge the demand of public and request his request for introduction of direct flight to Bangaluru toward southern part of country. Said MP Rebia.
The people of state are quite happy with introduction of flight service and it is much helpful in all way of life as well the lifestyle of the people has been changed with the improvement of connectivity system. He said.
The union minister Scindia has informed in a written reply and said that the nnos of schedule aircraft movements (arrival + departure) per week Airlines operating Cities connected Hollongi (Itanagar) 48 Indigo, Alliance Air, Fly Big Delhi, Kolkata, Dibrugarh, Pasighat.. Ziro, Guwahati. The Hollongi-Guwahati-Hollongi route was awarded to M/s Fly Big for operation with ATR-72 type of aircraft under UDAN 4.3 round of bidding which commenced the operation on 15.01.2023. He informed.
The route Guwahati-Bangalore-Guwahati does not cover under the purview of RCS since both Bangalore and Guwahati are served airports. The letter contained informed MP Rebia.
Airlines plan their flight schedule on a specific route/city based on market demand. commercial feasibility and the, company policy. However, all scheduled domestic airtine operators have been requested to consider introducing flight services from Hollongi Manager) to Bengaluru via Guwahati. The union minister has stated in the letter. He said.
As regards provision of night landing facilities at Itanagar airport, the airport is licensed for Day Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) operations at present. However, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) is actively engaged in the process of obtaining the necessary license for IFR (Ali weather operations) at Hollongi airport which would enable night landing facilities at this airport.. the minister has said in the letter.
