SIC (Vig) arrested retired DDSE Midak Riba in illegal teacher and MTS appointment case in Anjaw district

ITANAGAR, OCT 26: The Special Investigation Cell (Vigilance) of the Arunachal Pradesh Police (APP) made its third arrest in an illegal teacher appointment case.

A press release issued by SIC stated that the SIC has been investigating the case since the registration of a case related to Longding district. Two cases were registered based on complaints from the education department, but the third case, with the case reference: SIC (VIG) PS C/No. 04/2023 U/S 120(B)/420/409/468/471 IPC R/W Sec. 13(2) PC Act, 1988, pertains to the illegal appointment of Primary Teachers & MTS in Anjaw District, and the investigation was launched. SIC (Vig) SP Anant Mittal said in a press release.

The above case was registered in SIC (VIG) PS on 29/08/2023 after it was found during searches in connection with a case related to illegal appointments in Longding District that a similar offense of illegal teacher and MTS appointments had occurred in Anjaw District under the DDSE office. He said.

After detailed interrogation, meticulous searches, and technical analysis, SIC (Vig) PS has arrested one person in the case, namely Midak Riba, 60 years old, the then DDSE Anjaw, son of the late Kani Riba, residing in Regi village, PO/PS- Basar, District- Leparada (A.P). Midak Riba is a retired government official. SIC SP Mittal said.

The SIC’s investigation into the illegal appointments is ongoing, and all the facts of the case are being investigated in detail. The SIC SP added.

It is worth mentioning that on October 16, SIC (Vig) SP Anant Mittal stated, “No one will be spared in the illegal teacher appointment case in the education department in various districts of the state. However, the investigation is in progress, and we are building a strong case in the matter.”

As of now, two government officials have been arrested, including Jashi Wangsu, an accountant at the DDSE office in Longding, and the retired DDSE of Longding district, Jomdo Lona. The case in Longding district was registered on July 7, 2023, based on the findings of a fact-finding committee report from the education department, alleging fake appointments of 28 primary teachers in Longding district. The other cases are numbered 03/2023 for Changlang district and 04/2023 for Anjaw district.”
