State celebrates Vigyan Utsav themed ‘Atmanirbharta & Industry’

ITANAGAR, Jul 7: As part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the Arunachal Pradesh State Council for Science & Technology (APSCST) celebrated Vigyan Utsav today under one month one theme, which for the month of July is ‘Atmanirbharta & Industry’.

This was the second last event of a yearlong programme (Vigyan Utsav) celebrated to portray the State level STI ecosystem through month-wise themes, launched on 2nd September 2021, which aims at providing key inputs to the review of self-reliance initiatives at State level.

C D Mungyak, Director cum member secretary, highlighted the importance of Industry in transforming the society and developing world. He said that self-reliant India does not mean that we are getting isolated from the world but it will lead to an increase in India’s share in global trade.

He also highlighted the initiative of the council activities towards promotion of aromatic plant cultivation, bamboo sector and achievements of scientists from DBT, APSCST, CoE for Bio-resources and Sustainable development Kimin for granting an Indian patent for development of Polyherbal formulation for treatment of painful diabetic neuropathy, for Hybrid Cotton Patch and a method for its fabrication and Developing Banana Fiber as an efficient antimicrobial suture material for surgical site infection.

Taru Talo, Director Industries, GoAP, dwelt on the state and central initiatives towards development of the industry sector in the State. He also highlighted the salient features of State Industry Policy and about the coming up mega Food Park in the State.

Vishal Pillai, Programme Manager Innovation Industry, KPIT Technologies Ltd, Pune shed light on ‘success stories’ of KPIT Sparkle initiative towards incubating and nurturing the young student for start-up.  

Dr S K Chakaraborti, Assistant Professor, NIT, Jote (Itanagar), laid stress on the need of automation for future industrialization by giving examples of IoT application in banking, finance, agriculture, health and production sectors.

Rohit Aggarwal, CEO, Anil Enterprises (Bamboo Machines) Dewas (Madhya Pradesh), underlined the potential of the bamboo sector in Arunachal Pradesh. Through a presentation he showed that each and every part of bamboo can be used and have a huge market potential. Only the need is to develop a proper supply chain, he asserted.

Several participants from Arunachal Pradesh and other states joined the programme virtually. The programme was live streamed on SSTP Vigyan Utsav Portal of DST, GoI, New Delhi.
