NAHARLAGUN: Suspected NSCN (K-YA) militants have abducted a Gaon Burah (village headman) from Arunachal Pradesh’s Longding district.
The abducted Gaon Burah has been identified as Napho Boham, who heads the Lauksim village in Longding district.
According to sources, the incident of abduction took place on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday when an armed group of suspected NSCN (K-YA) militants entered into Lauksim village from Laukun side of Nagaland’s Mon district and abducted the village headman.
The abduction has been confirmed by Longding Superintendent of Police Vikran Harimohan Meena.
The Longding Police chief suspects it to be a handiwork of NSCN (K-YA) militants.The Superintendent of Police said they have intensified operation against the militant group and a search operation has been launched to trace out the whereabouts of the Gaon Burah.
