31 Panchayat segment to go to poll in 6 district on July 12, election in Vijayanagar is not finalized till

ITANAGAR, JULY 6 : After majority of seats for the by-election to the local body poll in state which goes to poll on July 12 has been declared unopposed, only 31 panchayat segment spread over six district of state which will goes to poll.

Briefing the media, Arunachal Pradesh state election commission (SEC) secretary Nyali Ete inform that the bye poll which was scheduled to poll on July 12 in which 130 vacancy was to be filled spread in 20 district of the state due to various reason like of rejection of nomination papers, non availability of eligible candidate, disqualification due to anti defection of law, law and order, death of candidate and resignation by the candidate. The local body poll which include the municipal election to Itanagar municipal corporation (IMC) and Pasighat municipal council (PMC) and panchayat election was held in 2020. He said.

 The election was announced by the commission on June 6 2022 with date of notification on June 14, last date of filing of nomination June 21 with scrutiny of papers on June 23rd  and the last date fo withdrawal of nomination was June 27th. The poll will be held on July 12th and the date of result of election held will be held on  July 16 and the election process will be completed by July 20. The model code of conduct is already enforced in the those assembly constituency which will goes to poll in those six district which include Kurung Kumey, Lower Subansiri, Lower Siang, East Siang, Lower Dibang Valley and Anjaw. SEC Secretary said.

The respective district administration has made all arrangement for the poll and necessary observers, magistrate and poll personnel’s and police and other staffs are already been worked out. After the last of filling of candidate and withdrawal of nomination papers 31 candidates are I fray who are contesting in six different district and the 4057 voters will cast their valuable vote in 18 polling station, the candidate out of which 14 are from BJP, 8 from NPP, 1 of INC, 3 from JD(U) while 5 are independent candidates. He said.

The voter list was done on June 30 before the special summery revision of electoral roll of concerned vacant panchayat constituencies was carried out.  Consultative meeting were held through video with respective DC/DEO though conferencing and necessary direction and guidelines were issued to conduct free and fair and peaceful election. He said.

After the last date of withdrawal and scrutiny 31 candidates with fight panchayat election while  116 candidate remain uncontested in which 3 from Tawang, 6 in West Kameng, 6 in East Kameng, 5 in Pakkekessang, 5 in Kurung Kumey, 4 in Kra Daadi, 5 in Kamle, 37 in Lower Subansiri, 11 in Upper Subansiri, 7 in West Siang, 5 in Upper Siang, 1 seat in Siang, 6 seats in East Siang, 2 in Lower Dibang Valley, 4 in Namsai, 3 in Anjaw, 2 each in Changlang, Tirap and Longding respectively. He said. 

Out of total 116 uncontested candidates BJP beg the highest with 101 seats, JD(U) one, Independent beg 10 seats while NPP and INC beg 2 each. The Secretary added.

With regards to the election to the trouble tone Vijayanagar, the Secretary said that SEC work is to conduct election and a meeting was held on June 1st where the representative of state government and health department and it was found that the matter is not consecutive. A letter of DC changlang was also there and the law and order is is with the state government and till the issue is finalized the election could not be held. Secretary further said.
