ITANAGAR, Dec 05: In a quick action, the West Kameng Police with the help of East Kameng Police was able to recover the DFO, Rupa, Bittem Darrang, who was kidnapped by some miscreants, within four hours and arrested 5 persons in connection with the case today.
Informing about the incident, the West Kameng Superintendent of Police (SP) informed: “At about 3 pm, it was reported by RFO Rupa that DFO, Rupa, Bittem Darrang was kidnapped by four persons from his residence at around 1 pm.”
The West Kameng district police immediately swung into action and 4 teams were formed to search all possible routes of travel, he said.
Information about a dark blue/black Kia vehicle with no number plate and photo of DFO, Rupa was shared with all the check gates (Bhalukpong, Bana, Balemu).
“At around 5 pm, East Kameng SP Rahul informed that the accused party was detained at Bana check gate and the DFO was with them. A team, led by the West Kameng Superintendent of Police Bharat Reddy, DSP Radhe Obing and DSP Kekdam Lingo reached Bana and they took the custody of the accused,” West Kameng Police informed.
The West Kameng Police informed that the accused have been identified as Michael Tajo, 33 years, son of Lt. Haraku Tajo, resident of Type-1 Colony, Seppa; Joy Flago,29 yrs, son of Tatak Flago, resident of Bosso Colony, Seppa; Monuruddin Ali, 33 yrs, son of Abdul Jaleel, resident of P-Sector, Itanagar; Shamsul Ali, 26 years, son of Lusan Ali, resident of Chimpu, Itanagar and Sicilia Takam Tajo, 35 years, wife of Michael Tajo, resident of Type-1 Colony, Seppa.
West Kameng SP said in connection with the incident, a case has been registered at Rupa Police Station vide 21/2022 U/S 364A/186/353/170/120b/34 IPC r/w 15(c)/16(b)/18 UAP Act.
The investigation has been taken up by Inspector T Dorjee, the West Kameng SP informed. He also thanked East Kameng SP Rahul, DSP Matin, SI Nishant and the Bana check gate team.
“The accused will be placed under formal arrest and presented in the CJM court, Bomdila. Seven mobile phones, 1 tactical vest, 1 walkie-talkie, 1 Kia Sonet car without number plate, 1 white Innova car without number plate have been seized from the possession of the accused. Further investigation is on,” the West Kameng SP said.
