APPSC Paper Leakage fiasco: first accused granted bail by Yupia session court

ITANAGAR, Oct 27: Akhilesh Yadav (Jeju Institute teacher) who was found involved in the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) question paper leakage issue has been granted bail by District & Session Court, Yupia on Tuesday.

Though Yadav was granted bail, he would be cooperating with the investigation team whenever called for interrogation, said Superintendent of Special Investigation Cell (SIC) Anand Mittal here at civil secretariat conference hall on Thursday.

Briefing about the investigation carried out by the SIC so far in connection with the alleged paper leakage case, Mittal informed that within four or five days entire collected evidence would be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) headed by joint director level rank officer.

As the SIC was mandated to catch all the people involved in the cash for job scam, so far ten people have been arrested by the state police, said Mittal. Few people have been identified whose arrest is yet to be made, he added.  

Informing, in due course of raid conducted by the SIC at Guwahati, Shillong, Itanagar, Naharlagun and few areas of Siang belt, many evidence was seized which will in solving the entire chain of APPSC fiasco, Mittal said, “So far whatever SIC has done or revealed is just a small part of the case, more disclosure is expected in the case,” said Mittal.

All the bank transactions and properties owned by the accused Deputy Secretary-cum-Deputy Controller of Examination Taket Jerang Taket Jerang and junior teacher Tama Saroh would be investigated thoroughly, said SP.

Saying the country’s premier investigating agency is likely to take over the investigation, SP also appealed to the aggrieved candidate of  Assistant Engineer (Civil) to come forward, if at all they have any evidence leading to solve the case.

The paper leakage issue came to light after one candidate of APPSC AE examination Gyamar Padang lodged an FIR, claiming that the question paper had been leaked beforehand to the conduct of examination.

Subsequently, on 10 September a cheating case was registered at Itanagar police station and the same was transferred to the SIC for further investigation on 26 September last.

Earlier, the police had arrested APPSC deputy secretary-cum-deputy controller of examination Taket Jerang, AE exam candidate Thomas Gaduk, Jeju Institute teacher Akhilesh Yadav, head assistant and father of Thomas Gaduk, Tanyang Gaduk, Tarak Pangin; junior teacher Tama Saroh, and courier boy Dilip Saha and three others.
