Arunachal Pradesh Catholic Association’s mega health camp brings vital medical services to Shi-Yomi district

The Arunachal Pradesh Catholic Association (APCA) successfully organized a multispecialty health camp at Tato, Shi-Yomi district on January 27, 2024. The camp, inaugurated by Dr. Nyato Doje, the circle officer of Tato, witnessed the presence of Dr. Gumjum Ete, District Medical Officer.

Simultaneously, an eye camp led by Dr. Taba Khanna was conducted at Menchuka and Monigong, collaborating with the National Programme for Control of Blindness and Visual Impairment (NPCBVI). Dr. Khanna praised APCA for their valuable collaboration, benefiting approximately 650 patients.

The multispecialty camp, held at SFS School in Tato, offered diverse medical services, including General Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, and Dental. Dr. Rina Ronya, leading a 22-member health camp, emphasized the significance of these services.

The eye camp addressed 350 patients, providing free glasses and medicines. Notably, 50 cataract patients identified will undergo transportation and surgery at Aalo General Hospital, free of cost in collaboration with NPCBVI.

Expressing gratitude, Dr. Nyato Doje acknowledged APCA’s vital role in addressing the health needs of Shi-Yomi, an area facing a scarcity of health facilities. The District Medical Officer (DMO) of Shi-Yomi appreciated APCA for choosing the district for their first-ever multispecialty health camp.

Taw Tebin, President of APCA, thanked the Government of Arunachal Pradesh, specifically the Secretary (Health and Family Welfare) and Director Health Services, for permitting the health camp. He also expressed gratitude to the District Administration, health staff of Tato, and the members of Shi-Yomi district for their support.

Accommodation and hospitality for the medical team were provided by APCA members in Shi-Yomi district. The camp received widespread appreciation, including from Tarh Miri, President of ACF.

The success of this mega health camp was attributed to the voluntary contributions of APCA medical wing members, exemplifying their commitment to reaching the unreached and providing essential services, as stated by Dr. Tabu Muri, the convenor of APCA medical wing.
