Assam Rifles Organizes Wreath Laying Ceremony to Honor Braveheart in Changlang

Changlang:- In a solemn ceremony held on July 9, 2023, the Assam Rifles paid tribute to Rifleman/GD (Late) Ningthoujam Subhachandra Singh, who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving his duty. The ceremony, organized by the Assam Rifles, aimed to honor the brave soldier’s selfless dedication and commemorate his contribution to the nation.

Rifleman/GD (Late) Ningthoujam Subhachandra Singh was known for his exceptional efficiency, hard work, and sincerity towards his duties. He served with the Assam Rifles and was deployed at Chassad under the aegis of HQ 10 Sect Assam Rifles to perform operational duties in the Kamjong District of Manipur.

On July 9, 2018, while part of a patrol column from the Kamtong Company Operating Base, Rifleman (General Duty) Ningthoujam Subhachandra Singh found himself in a treacherous situation. The column, patrolling in the General Area Skipe Junction, came under heavy fire from grenades, small arms, and IED blasts launched by an underground group from three different directions. Despite his bravery, Rifleman (General Duty) Ningthoujam Subhachandra Singh sustained serious injuries during the attack and tragically lost his life on the spot, displaying unwavering commitment to his duty and making the supreme sacrifice for the nation.

In recognition of his exceptional courage, Rifleman (General Duty) Ningthoujam Subhachandra Singh was posthumously awarded the Sena Medal on August 15, 2019.

On the fifth anniversary of his sacrifice, the Assam Rifles organized a wreath-laying ceremony to honor and glorify the memory of the fallen soldier. During the ceremony, the Commandant of the unit had the opportunity to interact with the braveheart’s wife, offering condolences and expressing gratitude for the immense sacrifice made by her husband in service to the nation.

The wreath-laying ceremony served as a poignant reminder of the dedication and valor displayed by Rifleman/GD (Late) Ningthoujam Subhachandra Singh. His sacrifice will forever be remembered and cherished by the Assam Rifles and the entire nation.
