NAHARLAGUN, The Itanagar municipal corporation (IMC) Deputy Mayor Biri Basang on Friday kicked off the 7A side football tournament being organized by Sangram Legend football club at Tegdo Pachin.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Deputy Mayor said that this football tourney is the 1st and the Langte Lotey ground is very good and the land owner has planned to create a sports complex in future and hope that few people should also invest in other activities like establishment of infrastructure for recreation, playing of games and sports for all age group including park for old and minor. He said.
Playing games and sports not only give a platform to showcase the sporting talent but also help in maintaining health and physical fitness. He urges the youths to come forward leaving all bad habits including the drug addiction and play games and sports and maintain physical fitness with a good health and sound mind. Basang added.
Student leader Tarh Tahi attending the function as guest of honour said that it is a matter of great concern that our society has also been affected by drug menace and the youths are the worse so time has come and we all have to united and being a parents we have to guide our children’s activities and try to divert their mind and habits so that they come out from the clutch of the drug. Sports is only the way out and urged upon all to play any types of games and sports.
He thanked the owner of the land for proposing a sports complex and hoped that in a few years the area may be developed and several games and sporting activities would be played and the locals of the area would-be benefited a lot. Tahi added.
Special guest Itanagar PHED Executive Engineer Tadar Mangku speaks about his plan to establish a sports complex and motivate the youths and students to play games and sports in spite of being associated with bad habits.

All total 8 teams are taking part from various parts of the capital complex. The first match was played between Tarh Tahi team Vrs KT FC while 2nd match was played between Vivek Vihar FC Vrs Champion FC.
