Itanagar MLA Techi Kaso met CM Khandu, sought state govt support for security to avoid loss of precious life on railway track.

Manoj Singh // ITANAGAR, JUNE 2 ; The Itanagar Capital MLA Techi Kaso on Thursday has meet the Chief Minister Pema Khandu with his two youngest son at itanagar and discussed various issue pertaining to loss of precious life on the railway track right form Gumto to Borum in Papum Pare district.

Speaking to the press, MLA Kaso said that I have lost my son Techi Takar, 34 years on May 18 last of no fault and only due to absence of security fencing and other security apparatus on both sides of the railway track which is hardly around 20 KM.

I have lost of son Late Techi Takar in an accident through N F Railway near Naharlagun Railway station. The loss I gained was irreparable and a great setback to my family members. He said.

The stretch is in between Naharlagun railway station to Gumto railway sub-station (a category-E station) and safety measures are urgently required as we are losing several precious lives since its commission. He said.

Since the commencement of the railway station there have been numerous accidental death cases of humans and cattle (cows/mithuns/goats etc) and death cases are increasing and is alarming for us and all those who are having their dwelling on both sides of the railway track. He said.

The establishment of Railways in the state is much necessary for easy and comfortable communication but it cannot be granted at the cost of human lives and properties of the general public. Said Kaso.

“I do not have any malice towards the railways (or) to blame the railways. I accept it as a destiny written in my life. However, if the situation continues and the Railway authorities and the state government doesn’t take up any steps to rectify [or] to solve the issues, then one day there would be major happenings in between the general public and the Railway authorities”. Kaso observed.

“Being father of victim and local MLA from the Itanagar capital complex have requested the Chief Minister Pema Khandu to communicate the counterpart, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) upon the following 02 (two) point issues for early resolution to prevent lives and properties of people residing along the stretch of Naharlagun Railway station to Gumto sub-station”. Kaso said.

The Trains running in between Gumto-Harmuti runs with a minimum speed in view of elephant corridor and so the train run with same speed between Naharlagun railway station and the Gumto sub-station and at present as the minimum average of 60 to 75 KMP at present and the braking status is around 500 to 600 meters. This is not all helpful to prevent any untoward incidents and the speed limit needs to be reduced like of Gumto-Harmuti @ 30 KMPH with braking distance of 100 mtrs.

Due to the non-existence of bypass/underpass roads/ways in between the mentioned 09 KM stretch, the people and the domestic animals living along the railway track use to cross the railway track for their day to day purpose/utilities and this causes accidents. An underpass road (or) linking roads at venerable locations (near Sibi Nallah in particular) in between the Naharlagun railway station to Gumto substation is required. He said that if possible the railway authority can also install CCTV, fencing all along the rail track from Gumto-Naharlagun, and establishment of a warning system.

I have submitted a representation to the Chief Minister Pema Khandu who understands the pulse of a victim’s father/mother who has a patient hearing and hope he will immediately take up the matter with the railway authority.

Kaso further appeal the member of railway board from state to take up the matter in the next board meeting and at the same time he also appeal the union Minister of Law & Justice Kiren Rijiju, MP Arunachal East Tapir Gao and Rajya Sabha MP Nabam Rebia to take up the issue with the railway ministry for the safety of the people and to save the innocent people are being killed on the railway track.
