Locals appeal to admin and state govt for construction of a new welcome gate in Hollongi

HOLLONGI, MAY 17: The local residents of Hollongi area have appealed to the Papum Pare district administration and state government for dismantling the present welcome gate which is posing a serious threat for loss of life and property of commuters and reconstruction of a new one.

The local people and commuters of Hollongi informed that immediately if  necessary action to dismantle the welcome gate located on NH-415 near Rajgarh road near Hollongi is not take place there is an apprehension of loss of life would takes place which is posing serious threat for the commuters as the gate is tilting and now a days is tilting more and quite visible.

The Hollongi Maxi cab welfare association Vice president Sonam Tacha alongwith president Nabam Tango and secretary has while speaking to media said that we have already informed the administration and other that the welcome gates located at the entry of the state capital is facing a threat and may fell down at any point of time and accident may takes place and danger for life of the commuters.

The Papum Pare administration led by the newly joined Deputy Commissioner along with other officials visited Hollongi and inspected the welcome gate. We have apprised of our grievance and sought for immediate action. The Vice President Sonam Tacha said.

The welcome gate is welcoming the guest entering the state capital but is in bad shape and needs immediate attention, it needs to be dismantled and a new and beautiful welcome gate is needed in place of the present one. He said.

It is to mention that on several occasions the big vehicle container has hit the gate and few vehicles loaded in the container were severely damaged. Several such incidents have happened and in the past also the vehicle with height has hit the gate and the gate has been hit on several occasions and the gate became weak and posed a threat for the commuters.  

One side of the pillar has been badly damaged due to being hit by vehicles on several occasions and it is suspected that one pillar out of three is bending  and seems a source of danger for the commuter and accident may take place at any point of time. Sonam said.

Meanwhile, Hollongi Police outpost Incharge SI, M Hussain informed that we are creating awareness among the locals and commuters to remain alert. The trucks, bus, tanker and containers are also informed while going out of the capital but in case of entry it is not possible to keep someone nearby the welcome gate to monitor round the clock.

The parking of the local trekker and maxi cab has been prohibited nearby to avert any incident and accident. Hussain added.

Meanwhile, Balijan ADC Taso Gambo has informed that  DC Sachin Rana on Monday visited to Hollongi and other area of Balijan and others area  accompanied by Doimukh PWD EE Byabang.Tugu and inspected the welcome gate on being complain of tilting and apprehension of falling on ground.

The PWD has been directed to submit a technical report and after that a decision will be taken up based on the complaint of the locals.
