‘Naharlagun Railway station shortlisted for development as world class station’: Roger Nabam Hina

ITANAGAR, Jun 29: Naharlagun railway station has been shortlisted for development as a world class station and the work will start “very soon”.

This was informed by Roger Nabam Hina, member, DRUCC (Divisional Railway Users Consultative Committee), Rangia Division of Northern Frontier Railway (NFR)

Attending the 19th DRUCC meeting of Rangia Division (NFR) at its divisional headquarters, Rangia today, Hina raised several issues confronting the State.

He sought to know the status of the under construction railway bridge over Pachin river being executed by M/s Tama Fabrication Works, and was informed that the work will be completed by December 31 this year.

He also sought the status of construction of the road linking NH-415 to Trans-Arunachal Highway.

Hina requested the railway authorities to erect security fencing in both sides of the railway track to prevent human and animal straying into the track. He also requested for constructing over bridge and underpasses in vital locations of the stretch between Gumto and Naharlagun railway station for easy passage of human, domesticated and wild animals to avoid fatal accidents.

This was voiced in reference to the tragic incident of 18th May last that claimed the life of Techi Takar, son of local MLA Techi Kaso.

In response, the authorities concerned assured to examine the matter seriously for necessary action.

Further, the DRUCC member demanded exclusive bogies for the people of Arunachal Pradesh travelling from Naharlagun to New Delhi in Arunachal Express for safety, proper ILP checking facilitation, more clean/hygienic toilets for both Naharlagun and Gumto stations, provision of security for the passengers travelling from Naharlagun to various destinations, especially ladies and girl child who travel alone for various reasons, more writing sheds for both stations, and plantation around the station and in catchment areas to prevent railway stations from erosion among others.
