TEZU, April 16: Properties worth lakhs were destroyed as cyclonic storm with rainfall lashed in and around the township today, though there was no report of loss of human life.
“Most of the HT & LT lines were damaged in the district. Entire colonies and adjoining villages are reported uprooting of trees and damages of electric poles. Restoration work require sometime as quantum of damages are heavy’, informs J Chai Kri AE Power Dept.
Loiliang, Hucheliang, Shivajunagar, Demwe bore the brunt of the nature with destruction of many houses, uprooting of electric polls and trees Many tall trees got uprooted and crashed snapping power and water supply that plunged the township and its adjoining villages into darkness affecting normal life.
On 15th and 16th April, the nature fury lashed the township snapping water and power supply and transportation.
Karikho Kri local MLA also physically visited the spot and closely monitored the restoration work. He appeals the concerned department to carry out re – establishment work on war footing to avoid public inconvenient.
Also a team of officials headed by Lui Chiba SDO together with Damchen Norbu DDMO, district Officials and Balong Tindiya ZPM Tezu Block visited the worst hit sites for spot verification of the damages.
