ITANAGAR, JUN 5: Eight drug peddlers have been arrested and seized a total of 33.31 grams of suspected heroin and one firearm along with five live rounds from the peddlers by the Capital Police from Chimpu and Dariya Hills area.
The arrested peddlers have been identified as: LichaTayo, GodakTatak, Riya Chabuk, TamoNyona, TajumLeriakTamin, Vijay Razi, NibaranTapno and Saiful Islam.
Meanwhile, the Police have registered cases against the drug peddlers under NitiVihar PS Case No-26/22 u/s 353/332/323/120-B IPC R/W Sec- 21(b)/25/27A/29 NDPS Act and 27 Arms Act and Chimpu PS Case No-29/22 u/s 21(a) NDPS Act respectively.
A shootout incident had also occurred when one of the arrested accused tried to flee after assaulting police personnel. Two officers SI SS Jha and SDPO NaharlagunDekioGumja sustained minor injuries while one accused got a bullet injury.
Meanwhile, SP Capital Jimmy Chiram while lauding the team for its efforts warned people involved in drug trade to change their ways or face consequences as Capital Police plans to ramp up its anti-drug operations to war footing in the near future.
