Sandiya Gungli & Chera Tania wins silver at KIYG-2021 

Haryana, June 5: SandiyaGungli and Chera Tania clinched the first medal for the state in the fourth edition of ongoing Khelo India Youth Games (KIYG)-2021 in Panchkula, Haryana, on Saturday by winning Silver medals each in Girls’ and Men’s weightlifting category, respectively.

This is the fourth edition of the Khelo India Youth Games – the biggest nationwide grassroots level sports competition in India, started by the Central Government in 2018.

Sandiya participated in the 40 kg category and snatched 47, and clean and jerk 64 with a total of 110 kg.

Meanwhile, Tania bagged the Silver medal in 55 kg category by snatch-92 and clean and jerk of 120 with a total of 212.

Mukund Aher from Maharashtra won the Gold medal and Raja Bharti from Chhattisgarh won the Bronze.

While Sandiya won Silver, KajolSargar of Maharashtra won Gold (113kg) and RekhamoniGogoi of Assam won the Bronze (109kg) in the women’s category.

One, YukarAmak from Arunachal Pradesh finished 4th in 45 kg (girls category) weight lifting. She snatched 46, and clean & jerk 63. She missed bronze.

This is the first day of the KIYG-2021.
