Several ministers bungalow at Niti Vihar prone to landslide, Capital DC inspected and ask them to remain alert or shift to safer place.

ITANAGAR, JUNE 29 : Several bungalows allotted to Ministers and other senior advisors etc of the government are prone to landslide and even some of them are at the verge of collapse and threatening life and property of others. 

The Capital Deputy Commissioner Talo Potom on Wednesday visited Niti Vihar and inspected the landslide prone area and also inspected several minister bungalow alongwith other officers and locals. 

Speaking to media, DC Potom said that due to heavy downpour and landslide the work of the people have been thrown out of gear and due to which all the schools has been closed down and several property in capital complex has also been damaged with loss of life. He said.

It is now necessary that precautionary measures are needed and it is the need of the hour. The heavy monsoon and flash flood in several parts of capital complex has bound us to issue several advisory to the denizens to vacate the danger area from rivers side and landslide prone area. He said.

It is better if the occupants vacate the danger area and shift to safer place. DC added.

I have spoken to few occupants and given them advice and suggestion either to shift to safer and make alternated arrangement or may face disaster and loss of life and property. DC further said.

It is to mention that the executive magistrate and police on Tuesday night has also visited the site and temporary restoration work is being taken up which would be futile effort until the weather is cleared and the permanent restoration works take up by the PWD. Said an officer from PWD Capital Division ‘A’.  

It is to mention that few of these bungalows has been experiencing landslide for past few years including Bungalow No-14 and others and due to landslide the people living below in Niya colony has been badly affected in previous years.
