SJETA & Health Minister Alo LIbang inaugurated three days cataract operation camp at RKM Hospital

ITANAGAR, Sep 19: The Department of Social Justice & Empowerment and Tribal Affairs (SJETA) in collaboration with Ramakrishna Mission hospital held a three days free cataract operation camp here at RKM hospital Itanagar on Monday from 19th  – 21st  September.

The camp was organised especially for the elderly person with above 60 years of age under the National Action Plan for Senior Citizens (NAPSrC), said health minister Alo Libang.

Apart from regular surgery, at least 40 senior citizens from across the state having eye cataract problems would be given free surgery at RKM hospital, he added.

Informing that the programme has been initiated to achieve cataract blindness Free State, he said that the department of health is also carrying out a rural outreach programme for cataract surgery under the National Program for Control of Blindness (NPCB) at different districts.

Expressing profound gratitude to the authority of RKM hospital for extending service to the people of state, the Minister further said that the department of health has been trying to provide qualitative eye care at the doorstep of the needy people by giving free treatment.

The state government has notified Arunachal Pradesh maintenance and welfare of parents and senior citizen rules-2019,  A helpline has been established for the purpose at Papuhill with no “ 14567” from 8 AM to 8 PM all the seven days of the week.

The health & SJETA Minister Libang appeal the people of state to avail benefit of the schemes of SJETA though CDPO, Aganwadi workers, gramsevika and others.

RKM Secretary Kripakarananda, specialist Dr. T Sorum, SJETA Director Yumlam Kaha also share their experiences and advice and suggestion to the people of state to live happy and healthy with a healthy body and sound mind.
