Solung Festival Celebrated with Traditional Fervor in Yingkiong

Along with rest of the  Adi brethren of Arunachal Pradesh Solung- the festival of  Adi tribes for  prosperity and good harvest  organized by the Central Solung Celebration Committee, Yingkiong began here at Yingkiong today on 1st September’2023. Hon’ble Minister of Tourism, Land Management and Civil Aviation, Govt of Arunachal Pradesh  Shri Nakap Nalo graced the occasion as chief guest. He was accompanied by the Hon’ble Minister Alo Libang, Commissioner Planning Pawan Kumar Sain,IAS, Nabam Dodum, President, All Nyishi Student Union and host of other dignitaries.
       While addressing on the occasion Hon’ble Minister Nakap Nalo extends his warm greetings of Solung festival celebration to people of Upper Siang and says that festival brings all people together and this unique cultural and traditions passed down through generations  have to be preserved and protected to ensure its existence for future generations.
       He also said that unlike other district, Upper Siang has huge scope for eco- tourism development and said that tourism offers great opportunities for improving the livelihood, jobs for youths  and strengthening the  local economy, adding to it  he said that ‘ what we need is  to change our way of thinking and accept the  changes with open heart and mind to allow tourism to flourish in  Upper Siang and as well as in many other parts of the state’.
          Informing the people about efforts of Govt of Arunachal to promote local tourism through Chief Minister Paryatan Vikas Yojana and Deko Apna Pradesh he exhorted them to avail the benefit of such ambitious programs of Govt through district administration to improve the knowledge and tourism facilities in the area.  Hon’ble Minister Health and FW and local legislator also spoke and welcomed the dignitaries and expressed his gratitude for gracing the celebration.
       Special guest former Deputy Commissioner of Upper Siang and present Commissioner, Planning, Govt of Arunachal Pradesh Shri Pawan Kumar Sain also spoke on need for boost up tourism potentiality of the Upper Siang and millets cultivation for its health benefits. He also emphasized on involving school children of VKV Yingkiong for Swachch Mission for effective mobilization of public to ban use of plastics and maintain cleanliness in township.
Shri Nabam Dodum, President All Nyishi Students Union who graced the programme as guest of honour also spoke and expressed his happiness and greeted the people on auspicious Solung festival and spoke on need to strictly preserve the true identity of cultural and traditions of tribes of Arunachal.  Shri Komin Borang elaborated on the mythological history of Sollung  festival celebrations and President CSFCY Yojong Sitek  on theme of Solung festival respectively.  
Apart from ritualistic offerings, colourful cultural activities, games and sports are part of the celebrations
