Union cabinet approves proposal of broadband through public Wi-Fi network under PM-WANI

Naharlagun, June 02: The Union Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved the proposal of Department of Telecom (DoT) to proliferate Broadband through Public Wi-Fi networks under the framework of the Prime Minister’s Wi-Fi Access Network Interface (PM-WANI).

The PM-WANI framework facilitates ease of doing business and encourages local shops and small establishments to become Wi-Fi Hotspot providers Public Data Office (PDO). The local shops and small establishments as PDOs may earn extra income from selling internet without any requirement of license, registration and or any fees to DoT. 

DoT NE LSA unit proposes to organize a third virtual meet on PM-WANI on 28th June 2022 (Tuesday) at 11.30 hrs for increased awareness of all existing and prospective stakeholders.

Interested existing/prospective PDOs/PDOAs/Citizens may submit their willingness to join along with suggestions/ feedback at [email protected] in this regard. Links for virtual meeting will be shared with all interested participants in due course.
