Likabali, Aug 15: 18th Edition of Independence Football Cup 2022 in memory of Lt. Takir Dini( HGB) was held here on Monday. The tournament was organised on the eve of the 76th Independence Day celebration.
The football match was held between 16 teams from all circles or Lower Siang District.
In mens football Nari FC took away the 18th Independence Football Cup 2022 while team MMCT FC ended up as the runner’s-up of the tournament.
In women’s football LMB United won the tournament while Silapathar Masters FC were declared the runners-up in women’s football category.
Attending the closing ceremony as the Chief Guest, Lower Siang DLRSO Chogge Nyodu, urged the youth of Lower Siang to channelise their youthful energy in a positive way by avoiding all narcotic substances and make themselves physically and mentally fit to compete with outer parts of the state and country in the field of games and sports. He also said that apart from health benefits, sports teaches young players about teamwork, help develop personality and inculcate discipline.
Guest of Honour, DMO Nyage Geyi also spoke on the occasion and advised the players to emphasize teamwork not only on the football field but also in life.
