Capital admin orders closure of Itanagar-Hollongi road

ITANAGAR, JUNE 28 : The Itanagar Capital complex Deputy commissioner cum district magistrate Talo Potom has order for closure of NH-415 between Itanagar-Hollongi in view of massive landslide at multiple locations. 

Speaking to media here on Tuesday evening, Potom said that due to 

incessant rain fall, various stretches of road along the NH-415 from Hollongi to Itanagar are damaged and Is reported to be in a very precarious condition. Even formation of the road has also been wahed away at multiple location and is vulnerable position andvehicular traffic movement is not possible. He said.

The Executive Engineer, Highway Division, Nirjuli has requested for the closure of the above stretch of road for carrying out immediate restoration/maintenance of the damaged portions, it is also necessary to restore the road which connect the capital complex from Assam and people of various district of state follow the said road. He said.

It is expedient to close the above stretch of road from Garbage dumping Point of IMC, near last Chimpu upto Check Gate, Hollongi. The cloure may help the works department to carry restoration work smoothly without any hindrances. Potom said. 

Therefore it is directed that all types of vehicular traffic movement shall be closed on the NH-415 between Itanagar-Hollongi stretch for next two days on June 29 and 30.  If the restoration works is not completed it may be extended for further more period in view of safety of life and property of the commuters travelling through he stretch. Potom added.

He further appeal the commuters who take up the Hollongi-Itanagar road is requested to take the Banderdewa or Gunto road till the restoration work is taken up as a safety measures. The Executive Engineer. Highway Division, Nirjuli is hereby directed to display the closure of road banners at various entry points of the aforementioned road as an awareness for the commuters. 

As per information received by Highway Division Executive Engineer Bini Pelen that several stranded vehicle has been ask to take the Banderdewa or Gumto road as there has been massive landslide at multiple location. The restoration and clearing of debris has been taken up in massive way but due to heavy downpour the slide are also continue and it is a challenging task to continue the work during the night hours. EE said.

Several machines has been deployed and which shall continue to clear the blockage and debris and officers has been directed to personally supervise and monitor the work progress.  The EE Added.

He further appeal the commuters even the vehicular traffic is restored the commuters are requested to take extra alert and take precautionary measure to avert any accident and loss of life and property.
