ITANAGAR, 4 Mar: The Hollongi Huto land owner forum based on an interim committee that has been constituted recently has announced for a mass meeting appealing all the land owner of Hollongi area to attend the meeting on Sunday, the 10th of March at Mama nursery in Hollongi.
Addressing the press persons here at the Arunachal Press club on Monday, convenor
of the forum, Tai Mama said that this will be the first ever meeting for the people of Hollongi to have a meeting on the after effects of landslide and floods damaging the township including the Donyi Polo airport, Hollongi. We look forward in taking the issue in series in the near future, he remarked.
While co-convenor Yowa Bullet emphasized on the news to have a safe water treatment plant and since Hollongi is in the pipeline to be under the Itanagar’s smart City project, we need proper maintenance and streamlining.
Yowa also mentioned on the proper disposal of waste dump by the earth cutting and it should be done systematically, he said.
The forum also highlighted the uprising of water levels especially during monsoon season which hampers the airport, uprising of water levels in the bridge causing danger for the denizens.
Citing the 2023 incident of Hollongi where a minor child was washed away in a flash flood and the body was not traceable , Tai informed that the upcoming meeting scheduled will be addressing such issues on how it should be mitigated. He appeal the state government also to announce the area as sensitive zone and environmental area so that several issues related to environment is also not affected due to human settlement in Hollongi area.
” We are working hand, supporting the government to save the ecological balance of Hollongi”, the duo added.
However after the construction of Donyi Polo airport at Hollongi several infrastructure are coming up amd it is the Ned of hour to check the rampant deforestation and eart cutting so that the drinking water crisis does not come up in future and at the same time it does not affect due to flood like situation to the human settlement of the Huto village and Hollongi village amd adjoining areas.
