Normal water supply in Naharlagun area to be restored within a week: AE

NAHARLAGUN, AUGUST 18 : The officers, officials, technician, pipefitters and linemen are working round the clock in restoration work of water supply pipelines of Naharlagun and Nirjuli township. The restoration work is on war footing. Informed Naharlagun PHED Assistant Engineer Tamchi Syam.

The main water supply pipeline of 300 mm dia to Naharlagun coming from Nyorch was damaged due to flash flood at Borum area near the railway station main gate. The major parts of Naharlagun township have been almost restored bearing few parts which are still affected. The most affected areas are Papunallah and adjoining areas which are being supplied by tankers which may be not sufficient as it is an alternate arrangement till the 150 MM dia pipeline  coming from Dui nallah upstream of Papunallah of which 300 meters has been washed away. The damaged site is located at a distance of around 3 KM in jungle, though the new pipelines has been dropped to the site and soon the new pipelines would be fitted and line would be restored soon which may take at least five days or more. He said.

The under construction work of the four lane road is also another source of damage to the pipeline , however we restored it timely in a day or two. He said.

Few parts of Naharlagun which include Papunallah and Nirjuli township are badly affected. We are trying to mitigate the problem by pressing Three Tankers which may not be sufficient but please bear with the inconvenience caused due to not availability of water supply. He said.
