Sajolong Peoples Referendum demands creation of Bichom district

Nipjyoti Kalita || TIPPI, Jul 29: The Sajolong Peoples Referendum (SPR) today organized a meeting at Chingdang hall in Tippi, where they fervently demanded the State government for creation of Bichom district.

The meeting, hosted by the Bhalukpong Circle Sajolong Welfare Society (BCSWS), saw attendance of prominent figures and community leaders.

Among the notable attendees were MLA Dongru Siongju and former MLA Rinchin Kharu, both of whom extended their support to the cause.

The event was also graced by SWS president Jony Miji and BCSWS president Aju Knonjuju, further highlighting the significance of the demand.

The gathering witnessed constructive discussions and positive inputs from members of the Sajolang Elite Society, All Sajolang Students’ Union, All Sajolang Youth Association as well as ex-Panchayat leaders, officers, public leaders, and intellectuals. Notably, representatives from both East Kameng and West Kameng districts actively participated in the deliberations.

The long-standing demand for the creation of Bichom district was a focal point of the meeting, with attendees stressing the necessity of a separate district to address the region’s unique needs and aspirations. The participants emphasized the potential benefits of such a development, ranging from improved governance and administration to enhanced opportunities for socio-economic growth.

The Sajolong Elite Society played a vital role in organizing the Sajolong Peoples Referendum, showcasing unity and determination among the community members to assert their demands.
As the meeting concluded, optimism and hope filled the air, with the attendees vowing to continue their efforts until their plea for the creation of Bichom district receives the attention it deserves from the state government.
